Dingley Site Planning Review Opens Opportunity for Community Involvement

The owner and developer of the 53-hectare vacant site in the heart of Dingley Village welcomes the Minister of Planning’s announcement to establish the Golf Course Redevelopment Standing Advisory Committee.

Site owner AustralianSuper and development manager ISPT understand the purpose of the committee is to review draft Planning Guidelines for Golf Course Redevelopment and make recommendations on how the guidelines could be operationalised in the Victorian Planning System.

Following Kingston City Council’s abandonment in late 2018 of the original amendment proposal to rezone the site, AustralianSuper made statements accepting the decision of Council, understanding the project could not proceed in its then-form.

The Minister’s recent announcement is a welcomed opportunity to prepare a refreshed amendment proposal to develop the site, working closely with the community and addressing requirements of the Planning Guidelines. AustralianSuper is committed to establishing good working relationships with the community and stakeholders to deliver on this intention.

The former golf course site has been vacant for more than nine months following its closure in December 2018.

* The former golf course site is on Centre Dandenong Road, Dingley Village. An application to the City of Kingston to have it rezoned for residential development was rejected by Council in October 2018, and later withdrawn by the site owners, AustralianSuper, and the development project team.  Details of this can be found at http://kingswooddingleyvillage.com.au
